I agree completely! My in laws treat the kids "equally" when they "have to," but the fact remains that they prefer my step daughter over the other two grandchildren!
My husband has adopted my daughter and we have a son together, but his parents only ask to see my stepdaughter and only see my kids if we ask them to babysit.
They call my stepdaughter on the phone to see how she is doing, but they don't call or ask about my daughter or son. I have a stepson also that we don't get to see due to long distance and they always ask about him and send him gift cards.
Out of all the grandchildren, my step daughter is the one who has her own room at my in laws house. Everything they have is "hers" and I don't understand it...why do parents have a hard time treating children fairly?

I would like to know too...I am going through almost exactly the same situation. I would love to know what responses you've gotten.
