My daughter is 7 and just started cheerleading. She begged to do this. I support her and want her to do something she likes. The problem is she will not perform in front of me. She says she is worried I won't like what she does or will laugh at her. ( I have never laughed when she tried something new, and I always try to help her.)
She has fun and does well as long as I am not there. Her coach and teachers tell me this.
Cheerleading is not the only time she does this. If I am with her she will not participate in almost any activity. I don't understand why I make her so nervous.
How can I help her get over her fear of doing things in front of me? Why is she like this only with me? What have I done wrong?
