Parenting Questions ...

... although the phrase, children don't come with an instruction manual is overused, it is true. You learn to parent by doing. Of course, you've also learned most of your parenting skills from your parents, which is often a big part of the problem, particularly if your parents were abusive, indifferent or subscribed to the belief that children should be seen and not heard.

The truth is that although you may act with great authority, you may be uncertain about what to do in a variety of situations involving your child. For instance, how do you best handle conflicts with teachers, kids who bully your child at school, back talking, defiance, developmental issues or sibling rivalry. There are so many things a parent must be aware of to raise a child to maturity in today's complex world.

If you're feeling a bit overwhelmed, this is a place where you can ask your parenting questions and get straightforward answers. If you'd like to consult with me, you can use my parenting coach service. Be advised that I do charge for this. Sessions are done over the phone (or via Skype). Click on the links to learn more about the service.

Your other option is to ask your parenting questions on our parenting message boards by using the form below. Since Family Matters Parenting Magazine has a network of caring parents around the world, your question will be answered by one of our members. While I do ask that parents frame their responses in a non-judgmental and helpful way, I cannot catch every response before it has been posted. Still, be brave, put your heart on your sleeve and ask the parenting questions that you really want an answer too. Believe me, other people will appreciate your honesty.

Rules for Posting Parenting Questions

  • Be specific, but get to the point. Posts that ramble on and on will not be accepted.
  • Do not ask us to remove your post. Once you've posted a parenting question, we will not take it down.
  • Do not type in all caps. This is considered to be shouting on the internet.
  • Check your spelling, style and grammar. Please do not use text abbrevations (like u instead of you) to word your post. We are grownups here, not teenagers, so please spell out words completely.
  • Every submission is screened before it is posted on our site.
  • If you post an especially intriguing parenting question, it may be published in our email newsletter.
  • Make sure to provide your email address after you've submitted your parenting question, so you will be informed when there has been a reply.
  • Do not post links to other sites. Your post will be deleted if you do.
