Parenting Poem

Time has come undone again
I dozed through lavender twilight
Smiled through darkest midnight
Woke with the lightening of the sky
All to look into my newborn's eyes

Dawn again,
The sky a gradient of blue to indigo
Pinks and purples separating out
As the sun wakes,
My thoughts filled with diaper changes, feedings...
Then this little boy will need my attention again,
and can I wait that long.
