Multiracial Child Resource

Multiracial Child Resource: I am seeking stories for a book I am writing on raising biracial and multiracial children. As the mother of two boys (who are Caucasian and Native American) and the author of Keepers of the Children: Native American Wisdom and Parenting. , a multiple award-winning parenting book that uses ancient native concepts (such as stewardship) to show parents how to raise children to develop their innate gifts and grow up to lead purposeful and fulfilling lives, I am writing a book that addresses the deeper issues specific to raising multiracial kids.

I am looking for two types of stories for this multiracial child resource:

1) Growing up stories from biracial people about cruelties they suffered at the hands of prejudice and how they dealt with or rose above them. Stories should be uplifting and illustrate positive ways in which children can cope with discrimination.

All submissions will be edited for style and content. The author will be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section of the book. Although there is no payment, authors will receive two copies of the finished multiracial child resource.

2) Stories from parents raising biracial or multiracial children. Tell us how you have taught your children to feel good about themselves. Share incidents of prejudice and how you taught your children to deal with it. I am particularly interested in stories from Caucasian parents who are trying to help biracial children cope with racism, but am also interested in stories from parents raising children of races that are different from their own.

All submissions will be edited for style and content. The author will be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section of the book. Although there is no payment, authors will receive two copies of the finished book.

Lastly, I am looking for questions about raising biracial kids. As a parent, what are your most pressing questions and concerns? Touch the heart of your own pain and tell us your worries, fears, hopes and dreams. Please send them to me by clicking on the Contact Us link on the Navigation bar to the left. I will collect the questions and answer them in my forthcoming biracial child resource. I will also keep your email address and send you a publication notice as soon as the book has hit the press. Please feel free to ask any intelligent question or make comments related to raising biracial and multiracial children. Your contribution whether in question or story form will help make this the best and most comprehensive multiracial child resource.
