Lost child

by hurting
(qld aus)

Two years ago my 14-year old stepdaughter's mother got in touch with her again after vanishing for 3 years with no explanation. My husband and I were her sole providers for her for the last 9 years, and we are devastated that she chose to move 1200 km away and live with her mother after an argument with her step sister.

It has been just over 2 years now and we still have not heard a thing from her since the day she left. We are finding it hard to understand her reasons and can't help think she has been persuaded to cut all contact. (It was a petty argument over French knitting with a 9-year old)

How do we reason with her and start to communicate again?
