Fat Albert Movie: A Film for the Entire Family

As an adult who once enjoyed the "Fat Albert" cartoon series, I looked forward to the Fat Albert Movie. Bill Cosby and his crew did not disappoint. The story hassomething for everyone—a little fantasy, lots of laughs, some tear-jerking moments and scenes that illustrate how showing a little character can help adolescents gain acceptance.

The story revolves around a high school girl named Doris who is considered unpopular and excluded by her peers. When Fat Albert and his gang arrive on the scene (beckoned by one of Doris' tears that falls through the t.v. clicker and drops down from the sky into the cartoon show which prompts the gang to pop out of the t.v. to respond to what they view as a cry for help), they give her the same advice they would give the characters on their cartoon show. Although the real world is infinitely more complex than Toonsville, in their bumbling, but sincere way, the gang wins over many hearts and eventually gets through to a reluctant Doris.

Fat Albert is a fun-loving movie which will appeal to all members of the family.Although there are some awkward moments and some minor subplots not worth retelling, the movie is well worth the admission price. Best of all, my children and their friends loved the movie and as we were leaving, wanted to know if they could come back and see it again.
