Calling Stepmother Mom

I have a 4 year old daughter. I share custody with her dad who is married. I just found out that my daughter is calling her stepmom (Mom). Before she used to call her MY Ashley. Which I thought was cute. But now she is calling her mom.

I emailed her dad and he said that our daughter can call Ashley anything she wants. Now I know that my daughter was not calling her mom until recently. I want to know is this confusing for her? Shouldn't she differentiate with names between us. Having two mommies seems confusing.
