Biracial Kids - Discuss the Issues about Raising Biracial & Multiracial Kids
Biracial Kids ... ... is infinitely more challenging and complex that raising children whose race can be easily identified. Since many parents of multiracial children have written to me to ask where they can find community and support, I've created this forum, where you can post questions, share stories and insights about what it takes to raise mixed race kids into resilient adults who feel good about their heritage. As the mother of two biracial boys, I am well-versed in the issues, but this is a place where like-minded parents who are going through the same things that you and your children are or who have been-there-done-that can offer their support. (I am available as a parenting coach if you require one-on-one help. You might also want to consider taking my next parenting class which is offered online. Before posting, you may want to browse my archive of articles on biracial children which may help you more clearly articulate what you have to say or inspire you to discuss issues that I have not yet explored. You may also be interested in reading my award-winning parenting book which details how I combined ideas from two different cultures (Native American and white) to raise my boys to feel good about who they are and to walk comfortably between two worlds. (The book teaches parents how to raise children to discover and develop their natural strengths as they're growing up, so their lives become an expression of those strengths.) Feel free to post your comments, stories or questions about raising biracial kids using the form below. Note: All posts are screened, so your post will not appear immediately. Make your post interesting, relevant and be sure to check spelling and grammar. Posts that require too much editing will be deleted, as will posts that contain links to other sites.
