Angry and Defiant

Help - I have a son who is 8 years old and is angry and defiant. He gets angry about so many things and he is usually such a calm well behaved boy. He will smash doors, break desks break anything in sight that makes him feel like he is getting back at me for telling him to do something like as simple as make his bed or eat his breakfast when I ask him to. He will ignore me first then he will have this angry fit, storming around the house. My blood boils I call him to come and he runs away.... What do I do???

thanks the anger stems from the fact that we moved here from Zambia in Africa only 8 months ago and Liam is not moving forward and misses home drastically - he misses friends and the way of life which is really different to here... thanks for your advice

Angry and Defiant

I understand your concerns. There are few things as unsettling to a parent as a child's anger, especially when it escalates into violence. Since there are so many possibilities for what could be causing this sort of anger and you haven't given me much information other than to say that your child usually doesn't act this way, I suggest you try this at-home program for kids who are angry and defiant. It will teach you step-by-step how to deal with your son's tantrums and how to set the limits in a way that still supports your son's growth and development and encourages him to learn how to express himself in a way that alleviates his feelings and is productive. Obviously, you understand that it's important to take attend to this right away, before his behavior worsens.

I recommend this program to lots of parents who have children or teens with similar issues and most have written me and told me that it was very effective in terms of helping them to turn around their kids. I think I did notice that you live in Perth and since the company only ships to the U.S. and Canada, you might have to get someone you know in one of those two countries to receive the program and ship it on to you if you decide to get it.

For more information, you can read The Total Transformation review, which is my review of the program.

I hope this helps.
