Almost 30 and still at home

My son took almost 10 years to get through undergraduate school, he finally graduated in May but is unable to find a job. We as parents have paid for all of his education, his auto insurance, all household expenses including food, phone, electric etc. My husband and I are at our wits end, he does nothing to help around the house his room is a pig stye and he is blowing every interview he goes on. He forgot to take his resume to the last interview!!!! In this kind of job market you have to be on top of your game. He could care less. My husband and I are so frustrated we are thinking of getting a court order to have him removed from the house to scare him into getting some counseling.

Any suggestions?

Sons 22 and 27 still living at home
by: Anonymous

I just cannot live under the same roof with my sons living there as well. They are pigs, moochers, I being a single mother, I end up doing stuff around the house. They do not clean up after themselves.
22 year old is a school drop out, hangs around with bad company. Out of job, bad behavior, in trouble with the law.
It's about time that they pack their suitcase and leave me alone.
Frustrated mother, needs help.

As my parents told me when I was 22, living at home, partying and bringing home underage girls (I was a scoundrel), if I did not get a job they would take all my stuff to goodwill, change the locks on the doors and contact the police if I tried to get in. I believed they would do it. My mother drove me to the recruiter’s office and I joined the Coast Guard. I really feel for you as I am now 47 and know that I put my parents through hell. I turned out fine and ended up becoming a police officer. I then had to deal with kids like me. Pay back stinks. I hope my humor gave you a little laugh in a very tough situation. I wish you luck.
