14 Year old son has problem with his divorced dad dating

by Father of troubled son
(Minneapolis MN )

My son has been avoiding spending time with my girlfriend who I have been dating for almost a year. I waited to introduce him to her until about six months into the relationship. We are serious and want to move in together. My son wants to keep the relationships seperate which will be difficult moving in together. He runs to his mom and I look bad. He says he will not live with us if we move in together. How do I make this work? Would counseling help?

The more you talk about your feelings the better he'll understand you. It may take time and effort but it'll be totally worth it.

Counseling NEW

Yeah I think the best way is going to counseling. But first go only with your girlfriend to ask and understand how to act properly with your son. You can also try to explain him that you love him< in some way his mother but your girl takes a part in your heart, too.
